The Hakata Festival (in Japanese "Hakata Dontaku" 博多どんたく) happens during Japan's "Golden Week", a week in which most Japanese are on off work. The Festival is mainly a parade in which just about anybody can participate. Groups of dancers, singers, housewives and guys with decorated cars parade through the city. Everyone is happy and in a great mood during this festival. A huge number of spectators also show up (some say over 2 million) to watch the parade and the various events and stage shows going on. Spectators and visitors are very welcome to join in and enjoy the festivities.
