The Japanese Doll Festival or Hinamatsuri is an event that happens all over Japan on March 3rd. It is a celebration for the cute and beautiful daughters of Japan. Dolls (in Japanese; "Hina Ningyo" ひな人形), are decorated at home for the daughters. Some folk in Japan call it the "Peach Festival" (in Japanese; "Momo No Sekku" 桃の節句). The dolls are then displayed on a tiered doll stand with little pieces of furniture. Also offerings such as rice cakes, sweets and peach blossoms are made along with prayers for the healthy growth and future of their daughters.
