We all know or have heard of "Noh" theater... an elaborate and magnificent Japanese style theater with incredibly beautiful costumes and stage sets. Imagine that in the evening... against the backdrop of bonfires flickering mystical light upon the performers. Bonfire Noh Theater (in Japanese; "Takigi Noh" 薪能) is just that. Other performances of this sort are now held around Japan but the original Bonfire Noh is believed to have originated at the Koufuku-Ji Temple. This is a HUGELY popular event so please arrive very early or even reserve a seat for 4,000 - 7,000 yen. (Visit the Nara City Tourist Association website for ticketing information).
