About

On first impression, it seems to be one of the typical dimly lit and tiny basement bar club with laser lights and mirror-lined walls, in Tokyo's Shinjuku district. However, what sets Tokyo Loose bar and club apart from the others is its desire to please even its foreign customers through management policies and its friendly multilingual staff; service distinctive enough to be ranked among “The Best in Tokyo” by the Beth Reiber authored Traveler’s Guide. Established in 2002, its mission to bring a great and memorable clubbing experience to cosmopolitan nightlife lovers is evident in such details as having its signs and menus displaying both Japanese and English on them.

All genres are played by first-class DJs, mostly locals, to suite all interests. The music can be described as having an interesting blend of both popular old and new. To further accommodate customer's tastes in music, there is even a request system through which everyone is encouraged to ask for their choice. The club also regularly holds international parties at least once a month.

One of the apparent drawback to the club is the cramped dance floor owing the the club's size, not very conducive for dancing, particularly during the crush hours usually after midnight as everyone seems to just dance everywhere they can, even if it’s on you. The crowd seemed to be an interesting mixture of 20’s to 50’s. Even though the club tries its best to cater to foreigners, most visitors are evidently locals with some from Africa or other Asian countries.

The wide drink selection is comparatively inexpensive and served by a very pleasant staff who speak both English and Japanese.

If you are not into dancing or got tired after, you can watch global sports on television screens or play darts with the staff or other customers. A twist to cigarette smoking different from other clubs is smoking through a traditional hookah which you can try with a selection of flavors for an hour at a friendly price.
