About

Tokyo Summerland near Shinjuku, category - Theme Parks

Tokyo Summerland is an extremely popular water park and amusement park in the far western suburbs of Tokyo about an hour from Shinjuku on various trains. It is a "Year Round" water park as it has a huge indoor domed pool and slides (called "Adventure Dome") but during the summer the park triples in size as it opens it's large outdoor pools too (called "Adventure Lagoon", open July 1st to Oct. 30th). First of all, note that Tokyo Summerland has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for tattoos. Even a small tattoo on your ankle will get you kicked out of the park with NO REFUND. Do not attempt to enter this park if you have a tattoo and don't complain if you get kicked out or about their policy. It's Japan, their rules, their business. Also note that this park can get EXTREMELY crowded in the summer months, especially on weekends... like, sardine packed crowded standing smashed and unable to move in luke-warm water... if your into that sort of thing. Best to go on weekdays during the summer months or even better yet off-season and just use the indoor park.

Tokyo Summerland also has an amusement park section called "Thrill Mountain" which has a roller coaster, Viking Swing ship, Ferris Wheel, and about 10 other flipping, swinging and spinning rides.
